Groton - Even with 40 minutes before graduation, Will Dixon was sporting his cap and gown, in a mad dash back to his car. He had forgotten his tassel.
Inside, Dee Ortiz Rigg was shopping for a spare ticket, to no avail. Students had four tickets and since Cameron Gonzalez's mom, dad, sister and brother were accounted for, Dee was relegated to the gymnasium to watch the proceeding on a video feed.
Such are the machinations when outdoor plans turn outside in.
With 10 minutes to go Ricky Aspinwall, a special needs graduate, relaxed on a quiet room with his mom, dad, brother and grandmother, all Fitch grads.
The young man expressed his excitement with a huge smile, intermittent applause and an occasional high-five, a picture of joyful pride on his face.
