NFA, Waterford advance to ECC girls' title game

Plainfield — Fifth-seeded Norwich Free Academy upset No. 1 Plainfield 68-59 in the semifinals of the Eastern Connecticut Conference girls' basketball tournament Wednesday night.

The Wildcats (15-7) will face No. 2 Waterford in Friday's title game (7 p.m.) at Plainfield High School. Alyssa Velles led NFA with 30 points and Olivia Lane added 15.

Waterford (19-3) beat No. 6 East Lyme 57-51 in Wednesday's first semifinal game behind 19 points by Alyssa Hancock and 17 by Adily Martucci. Jenna Schumacher led the Vikings (15-7) with 16.
