Arts Cafe presents 'Youth Will be Served' program

The Arts Café Mystic continues its 18th year on Friday, March 23, with Lisa Starr, the Poet Laureate of Rhode Island, in the series' annual "Youth Will Be Served" program, which celebrates young writers and musicians.

Starr has published three collections of poems and is founder and director of the Block Island Poetry Project, a conference of poets, educators, musicians and writers.

Also featured is singer-songwriter Noah Feldman and the student Poets Laureate of six of the region's high schools, who will read as the evening's collective "Opening Voice."

The event starts at 7:30 p.m. at Mystic Art Center, 9 Water St., Mystic. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 at the door; $6 for seniors; $4 for students.
