At 7 p.m. Monday in the Montville High School auditorium, there will be a town meeting. The purpose is a vote on whether to overturn the Town Council's decision to give up their authority to the WPCA.

In my opinion the council made a very expensive mistake. First of all, I do not believe the council can make any changes to the charter by ordinance. Article IV and sub-section 407, of the Town Charter, clearly states, that the WPCA is responsible to the council. The council is changing the wording in Article IV Sub Section 407 to be completely counter to the charter's intent. Amending the charter must done by forming a Charter Revision Commission, not by ordinance.

Town taxpayers are responsible for any lawsuits or bonding caused by the WPCA. Please come and vote against the council decision.
