The Waterford High School boys’ basketball team has been the toast of the town since it won its first state title last Saturday and head coach Greg Gwudz’s team was honored again Thursday night.
The team was present at the town’s Board of Education meeting and Superintendent of Schools Jerome Belair presented the Lancers with a certificiate of accomplishment. Waterford beat Watertown 71-57 to take the Class M state title.
“I can tell you everybody is very proud of you,” Belair told the team. “It was a great example of teamwork, spirit and camraderie.”
Our assistant sports editor and columnist Mike DiMauro also wrote a great column about a celebration for the Lancers' state championship.
