Sprague - Republican and Coast Guard veteran Noah Paul Enslow has declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the 47th District state House of Representatives seat.

Enslow, an elected member of the Sprague Planning and Zoning Commission and a member of the Republican Town Committee, will seek the nomination for the seat being vacated by Republican Christopher Coutu of Norwich, who is seeking the nomination for the Second Congressional District seat.

Enslow served six years in the Coast Guard and is employed as a dockmaster technician first class for Electric Boat in Groton. He and his wife, Jody Enslow, live in Sprague with their 5-year-old twin sons.

Enslow said instead of the "endless taxation and overspending of the current administration," the state should reduce "wasteful spending," fully fund social and civic programs and cut bureaucracy.

The 47th District covers Scotland, Canterbury, Sprague and the northern tip of Norwich.
