Red Sox P.A. announcer killed in car crash

Sturbridge, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say that Red Sox public address announcer Carl Beane has died in a car crash in central Massachusetts.

He was 59.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. confirmed that Beane died in a one-car crash in Sturbridge shortly after noon.

Beane has announced the lineups and other information at Fenway Park since 2003.
