A Forebitter reunion

I always thought of Mystic's Forebitter as the Crosby, Still, Nash & Young of sea chanty and maritime music.

Indeed, Forebitter - Rick Spencer, Craig Edwards, Geoff Kaufman and David Littlefield - achieved supergroup-style success for their international festival appearances and over the course of four amazing and wide-reaching albums.

The group, which stayed together almost two decades before amiably splitting up a few years back, reunites for a performance Saturday in Branford's First Congregational Church. It marks the season finale of the Branford Folk Music Society - and the briny material and exuberant harmonies provide a fine way to usher in the water-happy summer season.
