After days of threatened storms, the rain finally arrived Saturday evening.
Roads quickly flooded with a foot or more of water, including on Bank Street in New London and on Mitchell Street in Groton in front of Washington Park.
The heavy downpour appeared to have caught some drivers by surprise. Several cars got stuck in the water, including one, partly submerged in water, on Bank Street near The Pub restaurant in New London.
