Ledyard's Hespeler wins two events at State Open girls' swimming

New Haven — Ledyard’s Jessica Hespeler won two events at the CIAC State Open girls’ swimming championships Saturday at Yale University.

Hespeler, a senior, also won two events at last year’s State Open. She repeated as champion in the 200-yard freestyle, winning in 1:50.75.

Hespeler also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.58. As a junior Hespeler won the 500-yard freestyle.

Waterford sophomore Asia Langley finished sixth in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.37.

Ledyard was the top local team, coming in 22nd with 56 points.
