New London — Electronics Technician First Class Kerry Wertheim was honored as the Service Person of the Month by the New London Rotary during a luncheon in New London Nov 8.

Wertheim serves as a navigation supervisor on the USS Mississippi (SSN 782). He was the christening and commissioning coordinator for the Virginia-class submarine, which is homeported at the Naval Submarine Base.

“There are many guys I know who are deserving of this award but I am tremendously honored to be here,” Wertheim said. “I feel very special receiving this award.”

The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut sponsors the Service Person of the Month Program to recognize outstanding active duty enlisted personnel stationed in the Groton-New London area.
