The Connecticut High School Coaches Association, in conjunction with the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association, have named Montville High School senior Jeff Tryon as the state's Player of the Year for 2012.
Tryon will be honored at a banquet at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington in January.
Tryon was named an All-American last week and will be honored in Indianapolis by the National Soccer Coaches Association Jan. 19.
He led the state in goals (36) and points (52) this season.
"Just a tremendous player," Montville coach Colin Delaney said. "We've been fortunate to have a number of them over the years. He's explosive, he's technical, he's tenacious. Probably the greatest thing about him is that when you speak to people in the community about him, they talk more about his character than about what he does on the field."
