Maritime society sets $30,000 goal

The New London Maritime Society has set a fundraising goal of $30,000 for its 2012 Annual Fund drive.

The society brings the region's maritime heritage to life year round. In addition to museum programs, the society hosts Lighthouse Kids, a partnership with New London Public Schools, and provides upkeep for the New London Custom House and New London Harbor Light.

Last year, the group surpassed its $25,000 fundraising goal by more than $2,000.
