The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Foundation announced this week that it raised more than $100,000 for charitable causes earlier this month at its 29th annual Holiday Gala.
The event, held at the Mohegan Sun's Uncas Ballroom, featured a silent auction and door prizes. The $109,555 raised during the event will be given to non-profit groups that serve children after a panel reviews applications for funding.
To apply for funding, go to www.chamberect.com/foundation. Deadline for submission is Feb. 8.
In the previous decade, the Chamber Foundation had raised more than $750,000 for local groups dedicated to serving the needs of children.
The NRA has proposed stationing an armed officer in every U.S. school as a way to defend against mass shootings like the one at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Do you support the NRA's proposal?
