Local roundup: It's Hill's night for Montville

New London - Jamie Hill had 14 points as Montville High School beat New London 53-34 in a girls' basketball game played Wednesday.

Taylor LaVallie had 10 points for Montville (4-1).

Lexus Childs-Harris had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Whalers (2-3) and Tamia DeBarros added 11 rebounds.

• Taylor Buckley scored 27 points for Exeter-West Greenwich in a 62-40 victory over Stonington in the first round of the 29th annual Westerly Community Credit Union Holiday Tournament.

Amanda Roy had 12 points for Stonington (2-5), which will play either Chariho or Westerly in the consolation game at 6:15 p.m. Friday.
