Ex-UConn greats Lyman, Carvahlo to enter Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame

Two former UConn players are among five who will be inducted into the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Marriott in Farmington.

Jim Lyman, a four-year starter from 1978-81, and Tony Carvahlo, who played for the Huskies from 1975-79, will be joined in the Class of 2013 by Wilton's Kristine Lilly, who made a record 352 appearances with the U.S. national team and won a pair of World Cup gold medals and Olympic gold medals, former University of Hartford women's coach Austin Daniels and the late Tom Gray of Tolland, a pioneers of girls' soccer in the state.

Lyman also started for four years at E.O. Smith High School, where he was a three-time all-state pick and led the Panthers to a pair of state titles. In his final year at UConn, he assisted on the game-winning goal in sudden death when the Huskies beat Alabama A&M to win the 1981 NCAA championship.
