East Lyme — Athletic director Steve Hargis announced Thursday that Rudy Bagos has been named head football coach at East Lyme High School.
Bagos, a 1986 Ledyard and head coach of the Old Saybrook/Westbrook cooperative program the past two seasons, replaces Paul Tenaglia, who stepped down after seven seasons. The Vikings went 2-8 in 2012.
"Rudy brings a unique set of skills and background to our program," Hargis said in a statement released by the school, "as he is not only extremely knowledgeable about the football X's and O's, but is a well respected teacher in East Lyme High School. I believe this combination will create a team that is successful on the field as well as in the classroom and is a flagship program once again for East Lyme.
Bagos has been a health and physical education teacher at East Lyme High School for the past 12 years.
