I agree with the sentiment expressed by many of the 6,000 attendees of the "gun-control" rally recently held in Washington; let's protect the children.
Unfortunately, there were some speakers at the rally that would, without hesitation, seek to limit the rights granted to us by the Second Amendment to our Constitution in order to protect the children. I suppose an argument could be made that protection of the children trumps the Bill of Rights.
If one agrees with that logic is it fair to assume that preventing abortions would trump the "right to privacy?" It is estimated that more than 50 million abortions have taken place in the last 40 years.
If consistency is the goal, perhaps efforts should be made to protect all of the children. Earlier, in the same week, in the same place, 400,000 people marched to have their voices heard on that topic.
Civil liberties groups decry a recently released Justice Department memo that justifies U.S. drone strikes against suspects abroad, including U.S. citizens, without proof of an imminent attack. What do you think of the policy?
