It's deja vu all over again. "Argo" just won another best-picture honor.

This time, on Sunday, it was the British Academy of Film and Television Arts award for best film. Oh, and BAFTA gave Ben Affleck its best-director title.

"Argo" adds the BAFTA to its already hefty haul, following up on Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, Producers Guild, and Directors Guild victories. Whew. That's a whole lot of Guild-and-Globe glory.

It's funny to think, but the best thing that could have happened to "Argo" just might have been Ben Affleck's NOT being Oscar nominated as best director.

The consensus was: He was rooked.

The result was: People rallied behind "Argo."

Being painted as an underdog never hurt anyone.

But let's be fair. "Argo" is a tremendous movie. It's artistically superb, but it's also enjoyable on just a basic entertainment level — which might be why it was a box-office success.

So "Argo" could very well have won its slew of awards regardless — deservedly so.

And it's not as though being snubbed by Oscar for expected best-director nominations helped Kathryn Bigelow's "Zero Dark Thirty" or Tom Hooper's "Les Miserables" in the various races.

Two more weeks till we find out "Argo's" Oscar fate.

What do you think of "Argo's" various award wins?
