The Bill Memorial Library is located at 240 Monument Street in Groton, near the Groton Monument and Fort Griswold. The library, now more than 120 years old, has an extensive collection of books and media for adults, teens and children. The library is also known for its natural history and genealogy collections, and weekly story times. Prudence Crandall Museum Participating in the Blue Star Museum Program

The Prudence Crandall Museum is one of 1,800 museums nationwide participating in Blue Star Museums, a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense, which offers free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2013. The complete list of participating museums is available at www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums.

The free admission program is available to active duty military and their family members (military ID holder and up to five family member.) Active duty military include Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and active-duty National Guard and active duty Reserve members.

The Museum is owned and operated by the State of Connecticut.

Film "Slaughter's Field: The 26th CT Volunteer Infantry Regiment and the Seige of Port Hudson"

"Slaughter's Field" is a 25 minute film about the 26th CT Volunteer Regiment and their participation in the Seige of Port Hudson, LA, from May to July, 1863. The story is told in the form of a narrative poem, and uses period photographs, drawings and Civil War reenactment video to illustrate the story. The Regiment consisted of over 800 men from Eastern Connecticut, and the Regiment lost 145 men during their nine months of service from November 1862 to August 1863. The film also features the Louisiana Native Guard, the first Black soldiers to fight in combat for the Union Army.
