Members of the Battery B, 1st Rhode Island Light Artillery Civil War re-enactment unit join other units to fire a 100 cannon salute as Norwich marks the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Howard T. Brown Memorial Park in Norwich. At 11:45 a.m. Lewis Dube re-enacted Abraham Lincoln's 1863 signing of the proclamation, then at noon bells throughout the city were rung for an hour, followed by a reception at the Wauregan ballroom and then at 1 p.m. civil war re-enactors fired a 100 cannon salute across Norwich harbor and events concluded with a speaking program at NFA's Slater Auditorium.
