Cardboard boat races in East Lyme

Regan Ewald, 17, front, and her teammate Jacqui Plasse finish their lap in the sixth heat of the 17th annual cardboard boat races at East Lyme High School Monday, January 7, 2013. Students in Technology Education teacher Lew Tucker's Engineering and pre-Engineering classes build and race the boats as part of their coursework. Other students as well as faculty, staff and guests are invited to participate. Tucker's students are required to construct a boat using only cardboard and duct tape and complete one lap of the pool.
