Johanna Somers covers state government and politics in Hartford. She won a 2012 "Best in Business" award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, in the category of student stories written for professional publication. She has interned at The Seattle Times in Seattle, Wash., Thomson Reuters in Brussels, Belgium and the Naples Daily News in Naples, Fla. She is also working on her master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. She is a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving investigative reporting.
