Accused arsonist/kidnapper Richard Shenkman's Hartford court case has been continued to Nov. 10.

Shenkman was scheduled to appear Wednesday, but was never brought before Judge David P. Gold. Instead, the attorneys discussed the case in the judge's chambers and set a continuance date, according to defense attorney Hugh F. Keefe.

Shenkman, 60, is accused of kidnapping his ex-wife at gunpoint on July 7 and holding her hostage all day before setting his South Windsor property on fire. Nancy P. Tyler escaped to safety before the fire.

Shenkman, who is being held without bond at the MacDougall Walker Correctional Institution, is undergoing a medical evaluation, and his attorney has said he does not expect much to happen in his cases until that is complete.
