Waterford — A chimney fire at 18 Dayton Road temporarily displaced four people from their home early this morning.

Fire Marshal Peter Schlink said the fire was reported around 1:30 a.m.

He said smoke was coming from in and around the chimney area. The fire was quickly contained.

The fire damaged electrical service to the home and external walls near the chimney.

He ruled the fire accidental.

The American Red Cross assisted the family with lodging, he said.

Cohanzie, Quaker Hill, Oswegatchie fire departments along with a Subase FAST team responded to the fire.

No injuries were reported.
