Selden Creek Preserve & The Ravine Trail

Town: Lyme

Directions: From I-95, take Exit 70 to 156 west (north) about 3.5 miles; left on Joshuatown Road about 1.5 miles to entrances. Selden Creek is on the west side of Joshuatown Road; Ravine Trail ahead about 1/8 mile on the opposite side of the road.

Where to Park: Park on the west side of Joshuatown Road near Selden Creek sign.

Description: More than two miles of easy-to-moderate trails in Selden Creek through wooded hills that overlook freshwater tidal marshes on the Connecticut River. Ravine Trail is about a mile, moderate difficulty.

Regulations: Closed at sunset. Mountain biking not allowed. Dogs on leash allowed in Ravine Trail, but not in Selden Creek.

Amenities: Bench at the end of overlook at the end of the white trail.

Natural Features: This is considered an important habitat for many plants, songbirds, shorebirds and wintering bald eagles. Selden Creek trail leads to cliffs along that overlook creek and marshes. Ravine Trail goes through wetlands, hemlock and hardwood forests, bedrock fractures and steep cliffs.

Fees: Free.
