Directions: From I-95, take Exit 69. Route 9 north to exit 6 or 7. Follow Route 148 and park signs.
Where to Park: Ample parking by visitor center.
Description: Short but often steep trails leave from the parking lot and from the castle. One trail with stairs leads down to the Connecticut River and Chester-Hadlyme Ferry.
Regulations: Gillette Castle grounds open from 8 a.m. to sunset year-round. Castle open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day. Leashed pets are permitted in picnic areas and trails but not in buildings or on decks, terraces and walkways leading to the castle.
Amenities: Picnic tables. Three public campsites. Food concessions and restrooms open during castle hours.
Natural Features: Situated at the southernmost hill in a chain known as the Seven Sisters. Breathtaking views of the Connecticut River from the castle.
Fees: Fees charged to enter castle, but no fees to hike around park.
