Montville - The Sept. 7 fire that destroyed Oakdale Plaza on Chapel Hill Road has officially been declared arson, according to Fire Marshal Raymond Occhialini.
The early morning fire displaced eight businesses, including Oakdale Pizza, a Chinese restaurant and a dog grooming business. The plaza is next door to the Oakdale volunteer fire department.
Since then, the owners of the pizza restaurant, Athanasia and Simos Fotiadis, purchased the Manor Mini Mall on Old Colchester Road with the intention of reopening Oakdale Pizza. The Great Wall Chinese Restaurant and K-9 Corner will also relocate to the plaza.
Occhialini said his office, town police and the state fire marshal's office are continuing to investigate the September incident.
