Ledyard routs Wolcott 35-0 in Class M semis

Middletown —Alex Manwaring rushed for 195 yards on 36 carries and scored two touchdowns as third-seeded Ledyard advanced to the Class M state football championship with a 35-0 victory over No. 7 Wolcott Saturday at Middletown High School.

The Colonels (11-1) will play No. 1 Ansonia, a 48-14 winner over No. 4 Berlin, in the title game either Dec. 9 or 10 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.

Quarterback John Rainey ran for one touchdown and passed for another, a 48-yard TD strike to Slade Baxley, while Matt Daggett capped the scoring with a 2-yard TD run with 3:55 remaining.
