    H.S. boys' basketball: Whalers put away Falcons in second half

    New London - New London High School rallied from three points down in the third period and defeated Fitch, 93-64, in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division boys' basketball game Tuesday night at Conway Gymnasium.

    Kris Dunn had 40 points and 17 rebounds for the Whalers (2-1, 2-0) who trailed 40-37 with seven minutes left in the third period. Khaleed Fields had 15 points, Malcolm Simmons scored 14 and Doug Henton had 12 points and 14 assists.

    Chad Graham led Fitch (0-2, 0-2) with 33 points.

    In other games:

    • Tim Willauer's free-throw shooting down the stretch helped Bacon Academy hold on to beat East Lyme 68-61 in the ECC Large Division.

    The Bobcats (2-1, 2-0) led 56-40 after three quarters and led by as many as 22 points before East Lyme stormed back to cut the lead to six points late in the fourth quarter. Willauer (16 points) made four free throws to seal the win.

    Aaron Lorenzo and Zak Miazga scored 15 each and Connor Chicoski scored 11 for Bacon. Irving Eggleston had 25 points, Jeff Schumacher scored 20 and Ben Shaw had 10 points for East Lyme (0-3, 0-2).

    • Jared Kobyluck and Petey Aldrich scored 15 points each to lead unbeaten St. Bernard to a 66-36 win over Lyman Memorial in an ECC Small Division game.

    Izzy Davila and Tristan Hurley scored 10 points each, Kobyluck had 14 rebounds and Aldrich had 10 rebounds for St. Bernard (3-0, 2-0). Ajay Gonnelli led Lyman (0-2, 0-2) with nine points.

    • Killingly outscored Montville 20-9 in the second quarter and cruised to a 66-52 victory over the Indians in the ECC Medium Division. Nick Clemons scored 13 points for Montville (0-2, 0-1) and A.J. Allard added 10. The Redmen are 1-1, 1-1.

    • Norwich Free Academy held Woodstock Academy to six field goals in the second half and posted a 61-42 victory in the ECC Large Division. K.J. Robinson had 18 points for NFA (2-1, 1-1). Marcus Outlow added 12 points.

    • Griswold jumped out to a 24-3 lead in the first quarter on the way to a 62-31 win over Wheeler in the ECC Small Division. Zach Wood had 13 points, six rebounds and five assists while Tim Martinek added 10 points and six rebounds for the Wolverines (1-2, 1-1). Corbin Corrigan had nine points for the Lions (0-3, 0-2).

    • Darnay Gray scored 33 points in Ledyard's 81-76 loss to Windham in the ECC Medium Division. Thomas Whipple had 13 points for the Colonels (1-2, 0-2). Kendall Marquez had 42 points for Windham.

    • Chris Connor scored 16 points as Valley Regional of Deep River edged Old Lyme, 43-37, in the Shoreline Conference. Colin Devil led the Wildcats (1-2, 1-2) with 12 points and Andrew Tyrol added 11, including a pair of 3-pointers. Valley is 3-0, 3-0.

    • Qudeer Morgan had 15 points and seven rebounds, but St. Thomas More lost to Wheeler (R.I.), 57-49. Allante Crocker added eight points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals for the Chancellors.
