Nevio and Adrianna Petrini celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary and Nevio's 95th birthday on March 17 at the Coast Guard Academy Officer's Club in New London.
They grew up as neighbors in "The Fort" section of New London. In 1941, Nevio joined the Army. Adriana followed him to Hattiesburg, Miss. where they were married in the town hall on March 19, 1942. They and their children traveled the world together for the next 20 years until Nevio retired as a Lt Col in 1960. He then went to work for Electric Boat and Superintendent of Ships in Groton and retired again to pursue lobstering and fishing from their home in Waterford.
Their family has multiplied over 70 years with the addition of three grandsons, wives, and four great-grandchildren along with their son and daughter, all living in Waterford. They include their daughter, Marcia Petrini Benvenuti, son, Nevil Petrini and wife, Gloria, grandson, Michael Petrini and wife, Michelle and great-grandchildren, Mia and Max, grandson, Marc Benvenuti and wife, Keri, and grandson, Eric Benvenuti and wife, Erica and great-grandsons , Jake and Andrew.
