In the year that I've worked in New London, I've noticed that New Londoners can be divided along their coffee shop allegiances. And there're two categories: Muddy Waters people and Bean and Leaf people.

In the spirit of Jeff Foxworthy's "you might be a redneck" comedy, here is "you might be a Bean and Leaf customer" and "you might be a Muddy Waters patron."

You might be a Bean and Leaf customer if:

1.) You voted for Barack Obama

2.) You smoke clove cigarettes

3.) Your dream car is a 1972 Honda 600 coupe

4.) You drive your grandmother's 1992 Buick Century

5.) You hug hello

6.) You know what 4:20 means

7.) You think Thomas Kinkade is a sellout

8.) You have an ironic tattoo

9.) At some point in your life you've had every conceivable type of facial hair

10.) You don't mind waiting a little while for your lunch

You might be a Muddy Waters patron if:

1.) Not everyone believes you when you say you voted for Barack Obama

2.) You tell your wife you don't smoke, but sneak cigars when you're out with the guys

3.) Your dream car is a Mercedes C-Class

4.) You drive a Saab or Volvo

5.) You shake hands hello. You are put off when your weird sister's artist friends hug you

6.) 4:20 is the time you try to sneak out of the office on Fridays

7.) You think Thomas Kinkade is a genius

8.) You won't let your 17-year-old son get an ironic tattoo

9.) You're embarrassed when your kids take out photos of you with the mustache you had in 1983

10.) You also don't mind waiting a little while for your lunch
