Reacting to UConn's potential postseason ban in 2013, Big East Conference presidents recently ruled that any conference team ineligible to compete in NCAA competition in any sport also would be prohibited from playing for the conference tournament championship.
Conference presidents reached a decision during a regularly scheduled meeting on March 7 during Big East tournament week in New York.
"We decided not to issue a statement," Big East associate commissioner John Paquette said Thursday. "It would just be a conference policy. It just hasn't been done yet."
UConn is facing a postseason ban in 2013 because of a sub-par Academic Progress Rate. The NCAA is expected to rule on UConn's appeal by sometime next week.
UConn also is hoping that the NCAA's Committee on Academic Performance changes the APR reporting dates. Using data from the 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years, UConn would be ineligible for postseason in 2013.
