Time lapse: Niantic River Bridge opens

Amtrak's new Niantic River railroad bridge was slowly opened for the first time on Friday afternoon, March 30, 2012. Once the process of opening the bridge is complete, the bridge will remain upright at an 82-degree angle so boats can pass underneath while construction continues.
