People tend to recognize John Leguizamo from his films - for his acting in "Moulin Rouge" and "Romeo + Juliet" and his voicing the character of Sid in the "Ice Age" movies.
His greatest success, though, has been onstage. He was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in "Freak." His show "Sexaholix" was nominated for a Tony for Special Theatrical Event.
He's on tour with his latest one-man show, "Ghetto Klown," which nabbed him a Drama Desk Award and which comes to Foxwoods' Fox Theater Friday. It traces his striving for showbiz success - the struggles and how they affected his relationships with family and friends. He regales the crowd with anecdotes revolving around acting with Sean Penn in "Casualties of War" and playing a drug dealer on "Miami Vice."
And there's more where that came from. Leguizamo recently signed a deal with ABC to star in and executive produce a comedy inspired by his life.
