Sasha Goldstein reports here that the New London City Council has given a green light to a Fire Department budget with a 3.7 percent increase.
The remarkable thing here is that Fire Chief ROnald Samul said the projection for next year's budget started with the overspending of this year's budget.
Fire Chief Ronald Samul told the council that the current year's estimated spending, about $8.12 million, is a reality at this point, meaning the department will end the year about $870,000 over its approved $7.25 million budget.
Wow. Try that at home.
