Westerly — Three people, including a man from Stonington, were recently arrested for allegedly assaulting a local funeral director outside a sports club last month.
Alexander Newhall, 20, of Stonington, Robert Austin, 21, of Westerly, and Tony Hill, 45, of Westerly, were each charged with simple assault/battery, disorderly conduct and conspiracy.
Police Chief Edward W. St. Clair said Friday more arrests are expected.
Police said the men allegedly assaulted 44-year-old David Poisson outside Cleats Sports Club at the Alley Katz Bowling Center.
Poisson sustained numerous injuries, including a broken nose.
St. Clair said Poisson had a confrontation with one of the attackers days prior to the assault.
The investigation is ongoing.
