Groton — City police have charged a 19-year-old New London man with assault and other felony charges stemming from an April 2 incident in which a man suffered a serious eye injury.
Mustafa Johnson, 19, of 51 W. Coit St., Apt. 1, New London, was charged Friday with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree larceny and sixth-degree larceny.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police said there may be more arrests.
At about 10:30 p.m. on April 2, police responded to Poquonnock Road in the area of the five corners, where they encountered a man who said he had been assaulted by at least two people.
The victim was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for treatment of the eye injury, police said.
