Waterford – Police are investigating the Friday night armed robbery of a Bestway convenience store and are asking any witnesses to come forward with information.

Police said the store, at 6 Boston Post Road, was robbed around 9:20 p.m. by a man wearing a scarf and hooded jacket, which police said obscured the suspect's head and face. Police said the man showed a gun and ordered the clerk to give him money from the cash register. Police said the man fled on foot, westbound on Boston Post Road, with an unknown amount of cash. The store employee and patrons were uninjured, police said.

Waterford, New London and state police all responded to the scene. The street is very close to the town's border with New London.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Waterford police at (860) 442-9451 and reference case no. 2012-00731.
