The object of government, worldwide, should be protection. Protection of the only planet we are now capable of living on, including plants and animals. Human beings need protection from diseases and from the predatory effects of other humans.
Our greatest need is power. Everything can be powered by electricity. The electric grid should be powered with renewable energy; i.e. solar wind, geothermal, hydropower, which includes tidal water power. By using renewable energy we can solve many of our problems.
Those problems include another most pressing concern - government budgets and taxes. We can use the Supreme Court's ruling on the right of government to use eminent domain. The government can reclaim any property for its benefit. This should include property for renewable energy. Government would then get repaid by power companies using one of the oldest and most used forms of compensation, rental and royalties. Government would also have some protection over costs.
