Old Lyme – Four people were seriously hurt in a one-car crash early this afternoon that temporarily closed a section of Interstate 95 near Exit 70 for a few hours. Both sides of the highway were shut down after the 12:27 p.m. crash to accommodate a Life Star helicopter, state police said. The highway was reopened by 2:30 p.m.

According to police, a car driven by Ten Siu, 40, of Staten Island, N.Y. was traveling south on the highway approaching Exit 70 when he swerved from the left lane to the right lane and lost control. The car traveled down an embankment and rolled over repeatedy before striking a culvert, trees and a ditch before coming to rest. Police said Siu and a passenger in the back seat were flown by Life Star to Yale-New Haven Hospital while two other passengers were taken by ambulance to Yale-New Haven.
