Groton— Two classes recently graduated from the Naval Submarine School. Seventy-eight sailors, “Class 12200,” USS Hammerhead (SSN-663), graduated from Basic Enlisted SubmarineSchool April 20. Electronics Technician First Class Anthony Gulotta was class honorman. Seaman Cyrus Gardner received the Submarine League’s William Purdum Award for most improved student. Machinist’s Mate Second Class Stephen Pickett received the Navy League Award. Builder First Class Patrick Tanksley, the class leader, received the Heritage Award. Seaman Apprentice William Hall was meritoriously advanced. Seaman Christian Colon, Seaman Apprentice Benjamin Pinillos, Seaman Apprentice Neal Suiter, Aviation Ordnanceman First Class Joshua Conrad, Machinist Mate Third Class Joshua Dale, Seaman Caleb Allen, Seaman Apprentice Daniel Bald, Seaman Apprentice Ryan Kenney, Seaman Michael Whisenhunt, Seaman Robert Pegg and Seaman Stuart Hill were named graduates with distinction. Twenty-two sailors of “Class 14RO 12-020” graduated from Submarine Communications Electronic Rating Field Apprentice Course April 19. Electronic Technician Third Class Christopher Herring was honored for personal excellence. Seaman Samuel Ehrick was class honorman. Seaman Jacob Church was meritoriously advanced.
