Job fair for veterans in East Hartford Friday

The eighth Heroes 4 Hire Career and Benefits Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Rentschler Field Ballroom in East Hartford.

The veterans-only event is sponsored by the Connecticut Departments of Labor and Veterans Affairs, The Travelers, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce of Commerce, Prudential, Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve and CBS Radio. Nearly 100 companies are expected, including Electric Boat.

Joining state Labor Commissioner Glenn Marshall and Commissioner of Veterans Affairs Linda Schwartz at the fair will be U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and congressman John Larson.
