Brian A. Rathbun North Stonington
Regarding questions about the North Stonington school superintendent's use of a school-issued credit card, it would be common sense to investigate the allegations. It shouldn't be hard to follow the paper trail, as someone must monitor the bills and see any misuse.
Accountability is the word that should be adhered to here, the person(s) involved should be held accountable, fined and/or dismissed if misuse is found. It's taxpayers' money that pays these people and taxpayers should be able to trust that their money is spent wisely and properly. Isn't that part of the board responsibilities?
Who should pay for this investigation? I think we all know that the taxpayer will pay one way or another. However if the investigation finds a guilty person(s), then they should pay for the investigation.
We have our schools to teach our children, I think this would be a perfect time to teach them that deception and criminal ways do not go unpunished. I urge the board not to take this very lightly and investigate.
