Senior citizens in this area may not be aware of what is happening to residents of Stonegate Village, the only 55-plus community in Ledyard.
The owners of this property, Garden Homes Management of Stamford, filed an application with the town of Ledyard to eliminate the over-55 age restriction and make Stonegate Village an affordable housing development. This despite the fact that we, residents have a lease stating that this development is a 55-plus village and we do not want the change.
Garden Homes believes that because it is a multi-million dollar corporation, it can ride roughshod over senior citizens.
A final public meeting will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ledyard Town Hall Annex to decide on this application.
We are seniors, who bought into Stonegate Village because it is a 55-plus community. We are with our peers in a quiet community. We need continued support in our fight against a greed corporation.
If Garden Homes succeeds, it will set a precedent for any present or future 55-plus community.
Should the New London Fire Department try to rehire fired firefighter Alfred Mayo?
