The inspiring words of Eunice Waller reported in the April 22 article, "Last words from Eunice Waller," needs to resonate beyond the trials of New London to the fields and homes of North Stonington.
"We have to live together and cooperate to keep a good small town. When one loses, we all lose. When one wins, we all win. When one starts fighting one another, we're not taking care of the town's business ..."
The years of bickering, fighting, and search for suspected misdeeds on North Stonington's Board of Education has continued for a decade though good and dedicated boards members have come and gone. Meanwhile our buildings deteriorate, our good teachers look for greener, more supportive pastures and we're not taking care of our children's business.
End the rancor. Begin the process of healing. Restore the faith our voters have placed in your hands and we can rebuild bridges around quality in our education.
