What an odd coincidence! My window here in The Day newsroom looks out towards the parade and train station. Some tourist has tossed bagel scraps and, as I watch, let's see - eight, nine, 12, 13, 15 seagulls are fighting for the goodies.
And as I'm counting seagulls, I'm listening to Counting Crows! What a orinthological coincidence!
For, indeed, the enduring alt-rock band performs Friday at the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods. Counting Crows has a new CD, "Underwater Sunshine (Or What We Did On Our Summer Vacation)," which boasts "Untitled (Love Song)," a laid-back, hookish single that recalls Tom Petty if he fronted Better Than Ezra.
The album is definitely competitive with their earlier catalog, and figure on hearing selected material thereupon - along with "Mr. Jones," "Angels of the Silences," "Accidentally in Love" and "Big Yellow Taxi."
