Mucking around with "Mining for Diamonds'

Consider the very fine Chester post-folk band Amalgamated Muck. I have a sorta tic about their name, and I always type Amalgamated Duck. Not Muck. What the hell is wrong with me?

What's most important is that Amalgamated Muck presents a "Mining for Diamonds" show Friday at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook. Not only will they celebrate their album "The New Leisure Class," they'll dive into the catalog from their popular Small Town Concert Series shows. Too, expect choice tunes from various members' former bands - like the Washington Squares.

A note about "The New Leisure Class": it's a pristine sounding CD, crisply and wittily played, and mixes imaginative covers of Dylan and Guthrie with original songs that sound like instant classics.
