Harvey goes deep

Mystic's Matt Harvey, the former Fitch High School star, picked up his second win at the Triple-A level last Wednesday when he pitched the Buffalo Bisons to a 12-1 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

He also hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning, and is batting .429 (3-for-7) with three RBI. Harvey (2-1), one the New York Mets' top prospects, allowed four hits over seven innings with five strikeouts and no walks.

Another Mets farmhand, former Norwich Free Academy standout Eric Campbell, is on the disabled list at Double-A Binghamton. He's suffering from a right shoulder sprain. ... Andrew Carignan, Campbell's teammate at NFA, was sent down by the Oakland Athletics to Triple-A Sacramento on April 17 after appearing in five games with the A's. ... Salem's Sean Donatello, the former East Lyme High and UConn-Avery Point star, has been reassigned to extended spring training with the Miami Marlins. He will play for Jamestown in the New York-Penn League when the season starts in June. ... Former Montville High standout Anthony Giansanti is being converted by the Chicago Cubs from an outfielder to a catcher and is also at extended spring training... Others at extended spring training, scheduled to start play in June, are Groton's Jesse Hahn (Rays), Montville's Taylor Lewis (Pirates), Old Lyme's Ryan Zrenda (Orioles) and Waterford's Pat Quinn (Reds). ... Former Lyman Memorial standout Matt Fitton will also return to Newark of the independent Cam-Am League in June.
