Publication: The Day
Somehow, just about everything and everyone has its own national holiday: dead presidents; every disease in the book; various family members and now all the "it" foods. (This month, by the way, marks National Burger Month.)
National Beverage Day, otherwise known as May 6, makes for a catch-all celebration for all things drinkable, or you could say it provides an excuse to celebrate National Margarita Day (Feb. 22) and National Beer Day (April 7 in the U.S.) all over again. Whatever you like to drink, raise a glass of whatever and, well, drink it.
Need an idea for a proper celebratory bevvie? How about one of Mohegan Sun's most popular drinks?
Black and Blue Mojito
Recipe by Michael Texera
Ingredients
1 oz. Malibu Black Rum
1/2 oz. Absolut Berri Acai Vodka
1/2 oz. Malibu Passion Fruit Rum
1/2 oz. simple syrup
Soda water
2 oz. pomegranate juice
1/2 oz. fresh-squeezed lime juice
3-4 mint sprigs
6 blueberries
Begin by muddling the bluberries, mint, lime juice and simple syrup. Strain the resulting liquid over ice and add the spirits and juice. Give a good shake and top with soda.
The bartender also may leave the muddled ingredients in the bottom of the glass, then top with ice, spirits, juices and soda.
